How does the Google +1 button work?

-

The New Google +1 Button

The new Google +1 button helps people find relevant content in a Google search result. People they already know and trust use the +1 button that appears on websites and it is displayed in the Google search results. For example, you will see a “Bob +1′d this” right underneath a Google search result for a website that your friend Bob gave a +1 to.

By adding the +1 button to your website will allow users to recommend your website. Additionally a user’s +1′s history will appear on the +1 tab of their Google Profile. While +1’s are always public, users can choose to make the +1 tab visible or invisible on their own profile.

Personalized annotations next to your page in search results may increase your site’s visibility and make your site’s description more compelling, which in turn may motivate users to click-through and go to your page.

On this website we use the SexyBookmarks plugin by Shareaholic. It comes in several platforms including WordPress, Blogger, Joomla, bbPress, and Drupal.

To use the Google + button you will need to set up a Google + account, it’s fast and easy. The overall Google + system is an excellent social networking site. In my opinion it is much easier to use than both Facebook and Twitter. Give it a try you wont be sorry.

Give your Facebook a Face Lift!

-

Did you ever seen cool landing pages for a business on Facebook and wondered how they did it? Well it is not as hard as you may think. You can add advanced functionality to your Facebook Page using the Static FBML application. This application will add a box to your Page in which you can render HTML or FBML (Facebook Markup Language) for enhanced Page customization.

First you will need to design an HTML page with text and graphics that is no wider than 520 pixels wide because that is the limit allowed by Facebook. When you are ready to set up your new Welcome Tab on your Page, search for Static FBML in the Facebook search box. Select the first return that Facebook gives you. On the left hand side of the page you will see a link that says “Add to My Page”. Click on that link and scrool down untill you find the FBML App and click on Edit Settings. A pop-up will come up and Enter the Tab Name, I used the word Welcome, then click save and done. Then click on the link that says “Go to App”. Wen the page opens you will have a blank input filed for the Box Title. Enter the title, I just used Welcome. The Text Area below that is for your HTML code. Copy and paste your code in and save the changes and you have a new welcome page.

Use your website content to answer your customer’s questions.

-

Construct the type of environment that leads your customers through the buying process the way they want to buy. Write your copy, set up decision paths and create designs that are going to snag your various visitors, pull them in and get them to take action.

1. Amicable visitors prefer to focus on WHY questions

Attitude:                 Personal, activity oriented.
Using Time:          Undisciplined, fast paced.
Question:                Why is your service best to solve the problem?
Approach:              Address values & provide assurances, credible opinions rather than options.

2. Analytical visitors prefer to focus on HOW questions.

Attitude:                 Businesslike, detail oriented.
Using Time:         Disciplined, methodically paced.
Question:               How can your service solve the problem?
Approach:             Provide hard evidence and superior service.

3. Expressive visitors prefer to focus on WHO questions.

Attitude:                 Personal, relationship oriented.
Using Time:          Undisciplined, slow paced.
Question:               Who has used your service to solve my problem?
Approach:             Offer testimonials and incentives.

4. Assertive visitors prefer to focus on WHAT questions.

Attitude:                 Businesslike, power oriented.
Using Time:         Disciplined, strategically paced.
Question:               What can your service do for me?
Approach:             Provide options, probabilities and challenges.

Different elements in your copy are going to appeal to different personality types. Amicable types will latch onto the “personalized to meet objectives”. Analytic types will make a bee-line for the “methodology” section. Expressive types are going to be very interested in those “thousands of clients.” And the Assertive types are happiest when you cut to the chase and talk “bottom lines” and “guaranteed results.”

With this knowledge, you can develop a linking strategy – always in the active window – so your visitors can follow the buying decision path as it suits them best.

What is an Internet Browser

-

An Internet browser is a software application used for retrieving, presenting, and navigating information resources on the World Wide Web. An information resource  is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of content. Hyperlinks present in resources enable users to easily navigate their browsers to related resources.

Although browsers are primarily intended to access the World Wide Web, they can also be used to access information provided by Web servers in private networks or files in file systems. Some browsers can also be used to save information resources to file systems.

Google Chrome Firefox Internet Explorer Opra Safari

If you are going to write or produce anything on the internet you need all of these browsers to check what your finished product looks like across all browsers and to see if it works in all browsers.
